APPRAISAL
It's that time of year again when your boss decides "have you been good or have you been bad".
I think no one individual should have the power to determine who you really are but thats what appraisals do, dont they?
While we would like to believe they are objective, appraisals are the most subjective and most rewarding or demotivating experiences in ones corporate career. I say this - Good or Bad, treat it like a breeze that will soon blow over and just get on with it. Listen to the good and stay consistent on delivering it, take the bad as an opportunity to either improve (for it may be true), or manage perception better (for it maybe that you have pissed off someone somewhere and somehow the twenty people who love you didnt find their feedback into your appraisal but the one asshole who hated you did).
Anyway, its all a game and its your chance to see how well you have been able to play the game so good luck and remember whats important is not what you can do for your company but what you can get your company do for you.
